A Septuagenarians
Camino de Santiago

This one is a little different!

This is for the older set.

This pilgrim (peregrino in Camino lingo) is 75 with the health issues that age brings with it.

It’s for the first timer from a “second timer.” The experts tend to skip over a lot of fundamentals.

It’s from secular viewpoint. This peregrino is not now nor has he ever been a Catholic, yet he finds El Camino an emotional and spiritual journey as well as a physical one.

It’s for others to encourage an elderly peregrino. My planned August 2021 adventure is daunting and every encouragement from a “cheering section” is MOST welcome!

About this effort.

My fascination with el Camino de Santiago began almost two decades ago when seeing people walking along the side of the road led me to ask my friend, Julian, why so many people, and one lanky fellow in particular, were doing so. His brief response led to interest to fascination to study to a first experiment in 2018 to hopes for 2019 and 2020 that never came to fruition to firm plans for August of 2020.

My planned blog entries, on a separate page to keep this one static, include material about what the Camino is and is not, my experiences in 2018, thoughts on equipment, my training regimen, how things are going in preparation, and even updates (hopefully) during my August 2021 adventure.

Stay tuned!
